Shadows and Reflections present a series of work that engages with the concept of perception and how the narration of it affects our mental states. Using thin and free hand painted layers of geometrical shapes, the 5 large scale paintings presented in the show explore with illusion of spaces, depth, and light as a way to map the picture.
A new studio space as well as a recent art residency in Athens has introduced the interaction of natural light and shadows to the studio space impacting how I create, perceive and relate to my work. In a recent body of work including the large scale painting titled Union makes perfection I weave both matte and reflective finishes to offer possibilities for light interaction. The painting, subdued and toned down in colours, can become animated when given the chance to reflect light revealing different information about the piece.
